2012 Quilt Camp at Sea Hawaii Spring Fling Cruise
14 day Circle Hawaii sailing roundtrip from San Diego, California March 17 to March 31, 2012
Featuring special guest Judith Baker Montano (www.judithbakermontano.com) and classes with Stacy Michell, Judith Baker Montano, Dodi Poulsen, Martha Wolf, and Jackie Wolff with Janet Bottroff assisting during some of the open sewing sessions and one of the Make It & Take It projects!!
This very special cruise has been on the “bucket list” of Quilt Camp at Sea’s quilting/cruise coordinator for longer than you can imagine!! It has been her desire to offer a Hawaii quilting cruise itinerary that would include Judith Baker Montano – not only because she is a long time fan of Judith’s (she owns every book Judith ever published, including the out-of-print Crazy Quilt Odyssey published in 1993!!) but also because she felt a cruise to Hawaii where quilters would have the opportunity to visit Iolani Palace and view the incredible Queen’s Quilt (a patchwork “crazy quilt” that is considered one of the most significant pieces in Hawaiian history) would not be complete without Judith who is world renowned as the “expert” in crazy quilting. This cruise itinerary was not possible for Quilt Camp at Sea to begin actually planning until May 2010 when Holland America Line initiated plans for Hawaii sailings aboard a vista class ship – a requirement for all Quilt Camp at Sea quilting cruises because of the classroom space availability for sewing machines and an onboard quilt shop. BERNINA machines and the onboard quilt shop for this cruise will be provided by Georgia Gale of The Needle and I in Everett, Washington!
Information about the quilt block exchange challenge for this cruise featuring the Stonehenge Maui fabric collection from Northcott, Inc. has been sent to all of the guests already registered on this cruise and detailed information will be included in the cruise confirmation packets newly registered guests will receive once their registration deposit has been received. A special photo gallery of the quilt blocks is at the bottom of this page to show off the quilt blocks being created by those sailing on the cruise.
